The New York Public Library Music Division has extensive publications, sound recordings, reference and other materials about music. There are extensive holding in Jewish music. The catalog, called CATNYP, is available for searching online for complete holdings information. Finding aids to special collections are available in the library. Some finding aids have been digitized and are online (see below). The Lincoln Center Branch is located at Lincoln Center, just to the right of the front entrance to the opera. Composer Meira Warshauer’s In Memoriam September 11 and Caesaria will be presented in the U.S. and Germany in several formats by several ensembles on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11, 2011.

The World and German Premiere performances of the cello choir version of In Memoriam (for 6 celli, adapted by Mirel Iancovici from the version for solo cello and strings) will be given by Mr. Iancovici and I Multicelli in Bottrop at Martinskirche on September 10 at 7:00 PM, in Gelsenkirchen at the New Synagogue on the 11th at noon and in Gladbeck at the Martin Luther Forum Ruhr on the 11th at 6:00 PM. More Time to Access Jewish Music in NYC

The Center for Jewish History, located in the heart of New York City, is pleased to announce that they have improved access to the collections of partners by extending the operating hours of the Lillian Goldman Reading Room and the Ackman & Ziff Family Genealogy Institute to five days a week!

Scholars, students and the general public now have the opportunity to conduct onsite research on Mondays from 9:30am – 7:30pm, Tuesdays – Thursdays from 9:30am – 5:30pm, and Fridays from 9:30am – 1:30pm.

In addition to offering extended hours, the Center provides access to our partners’ collections through its Online Public Access Catalog (www.collections.cjh.org), a unique tool that offers seamless searching of library, archival and museum holdings through a single portal.

From “West Side Story” to “Wicked,” the music of the Broadway theatre
will be highlighted at the “Cantors’ Cabaret” concert at 7p.m.,
Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Congregation Rodeph Sholom, 7 W 83rd Street off
Central Park West.

Joining Rodeph Sholom’s Cantor Rebecca Garfein and Cantorial
Intern, Jennifer Strauss-Klein are New York Metro Area Cantors, Claire Franco,
Daniel Singer, Howard Stahl and pianist, Jonathan Faiman. The concert, a
light-hearted tribute to the Broadway theatre will benefit the School of Sacred
Music Scholarship Fund at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and
Project Kehila, Rodeph Sholom’s response to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
To date, Project Kehila has contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the hard-hit
Gulf community.

Albuquerque’s annual Klezmer music and dance festival celebrates its sixth year over
Presidents’ Day weekend.

The Southwest’s annual celebration
of Klezmer music and dance, KLEZMERQUERQUE 2008, will present a weekend of concerts,
dance parties, classes, and a lunch with music featuring world-renowned klezmer
artists as well as many local artists. The annual event will take place from
February 15-17 (Friday evening through Sunday afternoon) at Albuquerque’s

Amid the Jasmine CD Release

The Gerald Edery Ensemble‘s
newest recording, Amid the Jasmine is finished and will be available on the website,
www.sefaradrecords.com, on February 9th, 2006.

The Ensemble will be in the New York/New Jersey area, on Saturday, February
11, 2006. There will be a CD release concert at the Jewish Community Center of
Greater Monmouth County in Deal Park, New Jersey. The event will feature The Gerard
Edery Ensemble performing music from the new release as well as appearances by guest
Cantors. You can expect an evening filled with a multi-cultural spirit conveyed
through an eclectic mix of songs in Ladino, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew from the
Sephardic and Middle Eastern traditions, as well as original songs by Gerard Edery.

Shapira and Shapira Perform Brahms at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall

Renowned cellist Benjamin Shapira will joined by pianist Shulamith Shapira performing the two Brahms cello sonatas at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall on March 16th, 8:00 pm.
B. Shapira’s talent was recognized at a very early age. He was quickly embraced by
America Israel Cultural Foundation, and was selected by Isaac Stern to join a small
group of outstanding young protégé artists at the Jerusalem Music Center. Shapira’s
international career was launched after his celebrated Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall
performance of the Complete Bach Suites for Cello Solo. Since, Shapira is in
constant demand as a soloist, performing all over the United States and abroad. His
recent years’ US performances include concerts in Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston,
Texas, Tennessee, Utah and Wisconsin. Shapira frequently performs internationally as

Winning Composers Spanning the Globe Featured At Shalshelet s Second International Music Festival

CHEVY CHASE, MARYLAND — Shalshelet: The Foundation for New Jewish Liturgical
Music, announced the names of the 28 composers whose 36 compositions will be
presented during the Second International Festival of New Jewish Liturgical Music on
Sunday, June 11 at Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Chevy Chase, Maryland (8300
Meadowbrook Lane). The 7 p.m. concert will feature 15 of these liturgical works, and
the day-long Festival, beginning at 10 a.m., will showcase the remainder of the
compositions.

Featuring the Zamir Chorale of Boston and Kol Arev of Hebrew College, in a concert of the magnificent compositions of Lazar Weiner and his Pulitzer Prize-winning son, Yehudi Wyner, and Cantor Hugo Chaim Adler and his son, Samuel Adler, recipient of the Aaron Copland Award for lifetime achievement in music, this extraordinary program will include participation from both Yehudi Wyner and Samuel Adler.
