Weill not only wrote 3 Penny Opera (with Brecht) and the well known Mack the Knife, but also, after moving to America at the onset of WWII, some beautiful songs for musical theater, including September Song and Speak Low (When You Speak Love). The full range of Weill’s adventurous musical styles and social conscience will be evident. Steve staged the first part- the German period, in Expressionist style, and the second, American part, with more than a nod to Broadway.
