Come and see what all the fuss is about at Chalkers Pub and why it is a favorite venue for so many of Toronto’s top jazz performers. The club has a lovely Yamaha piano, great sound, fabulous food and a comfortable and intimate environment for listening to music.

Coming up on Saturday, December 5 from 6-9PM will be the Fern Lindzon Jazz Quartet. Jazz pianist and vocalist, Fern Lindzon, is gearing up to record her sophomore jazz CD in early 2010 and she has a lot of new and exciting material. Fern’s highly original style include her own compositions, wonderful arrangements of unusual jazz standards and even some klezmer/yidddish music which Fern has arranged in a contemporary jazz setting. The latter are a result of a Canada Council Grant Fern received in the spring of 2009 to fuse jazz and klezmer/yiddish music and art songs. She calls this hybrid Yiddish meets Kenny Wheeler and Maria Shneider.

Joining Fern will be the amazing jazz flautist Bill McBirnie. This will be the first time Fern and Bill have performed together and sparks will be flying! Toronto’s premier bass player Neil Swainson will be joining them on bass and the brilliant Nick Fraser rounds out the quartet on drums.
