East Midwood Jewish Center’s Club Oasis presents S’huenyos De Espana:
An Evening of Ladino Music

This night will feature Cantor Sam Levine (vocals & guitar), Marjorie
Sanua (vocals), Ben Lapidus (tres, cuatro, guitar), Jeremy Brown
(violin, mandolin), and Ira Epstein (percussion). Refreshments will
be available.

Ladino, derived from Hebrew and Spanish, can be thought of as a
Sephardic analogue to Yiddish (a conflation of Hebrew and German) and
is currently spoken by about 150,000 people, primarily in Israel,
Turkey and Greece.
